Enrique pled guilty on December 01, 2009, to the murder of Becky Torres [12/27/07]: Enrique pled guilty to second degree murder. He faces at least a 30 year prison sentence. Sentencing is scheduled for January 08, 2010.

BECKY TORRES MURDER TRIAL SET FOR DECEMBER 01, 2009. Thoughts and prayers go out to Becky's family and friends, who have not only had to endure the tragic pain of Becky's murder, but also the defense's two year battle in attempting to have Becky's murderer deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial.
The term courageous does not even begin to sum up Becky's family and friends' unwavering conviction in seeking justice for their Becky.

Hello, I wanted to update you all to what has been going on with Becky's case. We have been to court what seems a million times. Many court dates were canceled/changed! We recently went through a series of hearings to see how much of what "we" her family & friends knew would be admissible in trial. Finally, those are over, the judge is allowing 7 of the 10 people who testified to be allowed to testify at trial. We have a pre trial date for November 30, 2009...and trial is set to begin December 1, 2009 @ 8:00 AM, @ the Circuit Court in Flint, Michigan. I sent the prosecutor an email this week, and she stated that trial is still set to begin on December 1, 2009. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, we will be able to finally mourn Becky, and let her rest in peace before the two year anniversary of her death.

Cloud Writer [OIDV Network / www.behindthebluewall.blogspot.com ] is working on many cases, so I volunteered to gather information on the OIDV murder of Meleanie. One of the things that struck my heart about Meleanie’s case was the fact that there was so much reference to her as a ‘gun toting soccer mom’, and very little if any reference to the Scott and his murder of Meleanie.

So I will set the record straight: the state of Pennsylvania has an ‘open carry’ gun law [instead of a concealed weapon law]. If you have a permit to carry a weapon in PA, then the gun cannot be concealed…it must be carried in the open [a holster on your hip/ in plain view]. And so that is what Meleanie did: she legally carried her gun in a holster on her hip, in plain view. Unfortunately, Meleanie’s decision to exercise her right to carry a weapon under PA law, was met with criticism by some in her town. Meleanie was dubbed ‘the gun toting soccer mom’.

And when Scott murdered Meleanie, attention was drawn away from the fact that Scott was a Parole Officer…whom Meleanie was attempting to divorce…that she had tried for a month to obtain a PPO from Scott/ an officer [and was unsuccessful]...and on 10/07/09, Scott shot and killed Meleanie with his department issued gun [which Scott still had because we all know how hard it is to get a PPO against an officer].

Instead, attention was drawn to Meleanie, as ‘the gun toting soccer mom’. Let’s focus back on Parole Officer Scott Hain, who murdered Meleanie, and on Meleanie in a more favorable light: a victim of OIDV who deserved so much more than this.

OFFICER PATRICIA CATHERINE RYAN WILLIAMS [DETROIT PD]: MURDERED SEPTEMBER 22, 2009, by her husband, Officer Ed Williams. Officer Ed Williams ambushed Officer Patricia Williams while she was enroute to the police department to file a complaint on a weekend domestic violence assault.

Regarding Ed Williams did they handle things based on the priority of saving Ed Williams' career if possible or Patricia and Ed's safety? This is so awful. The loss cannot be measured. I am watching it happen over and over around the country..."

MAGISTRATE MICHAEL JAMES [VAN BUREN COUNTY]: What the heck ever happened with this case? In December 2008, Magistrate James' wife was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance suffering severe trauma to the head and upper torso area. Mrs. James' injuries were so severe, that Allegan County Hospital considering airlifting her to Bronson Methodist Hospital. But wait, there's an explanation for Mrs. James' injuries, according to Magistrate Michael James [who registered an alcohol level of .127; urinated on himself; and at one point passed out]: "She fell". Raise of hands of domestic violence victims who have [ahem] 'fallen', please.

OFFICER COLIN KACMARSKY [LANSING PD]: Shot by his wife [09/12/09] Officer Kacmarsky survived the shooting and is in stable condition. Kacmarsky's wife was arrested after the shooting and later released: "...there was evidence that the woman had been physically assaulted prior to the shooting"

ROSE COBB MURDER CASE: On June 19, 2009, Attorneys for Vincent Smothers [who confessed to murdering Rose Cobb on 12/26/07], plan to ask the Judge to have Smothers' confession thrown out.
After taking testimony today, the hearing is scheduled to continue on July 17, 2009.

OFFICER GARY STEELE [DETROIT POLICE DEPARTMENT]: HUH? On June 23, 2009, Officer Steele will only be charged with a misdemeanor in the March 2008 OIDV assault of his former girlfriend. In March 2008, Steele was charged with torture [possible life sentence]; assault with intent to murder; assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder; two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon; and discharge of a weapon/firearm.

UPDATE ON OFFICER GARY STEELE: ON JUNE 23, 2009 OFFICER STEELE WAS SENTENCED TO ONE YEAR PROBATION [ZERO JAIL/PRISON TIME].
