Cloudwriter [Behind The Blue Wall: http://www.behindthebluewall.blogspot.com/ ] and I often spend many a night discussing OIDV cases that just seem to 'disappear'... their victims simply forgotten. And, for any of you who personally know Cloudwriter and me, if there is one thing that will set us off [aside from victims of OIDV being denied protection under the laws], it's victims and their cases being forgotten.... and in some cases never being solved.

Pamela died exactly one year after her husband Officer Jessie Baker was fired from his law enforcement position for domestic violence. Officer Jessie Baker is now employeed by the Groveland Police Department [FL]...after he brutally assaulted Pamela, and after Pamela's death.

A part-time Ottawa County deputy was fired following a July 19 domestic violence incident with a former girlfriend, Ottawa County Sheriff Gary Rosema said Wednesday.

Rosema would not reveal the deputy’s name, but said he was hired by the sheriff’s office in February. The deputy worked road patrol and was not assigned to a particular patrol area.

The sheriff would not comment further on the incident, but said of the deputy: “We didn’t extend his employment at this point. We decided to sever our relationship.”

The deputy has not been arraigned on any charges, but Michigan State Police in Grand Haven continue to investigate, Rosema said.

Any potential charges would be handled by the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecuting Attorney Ron Frantz could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.

The deputy had been on probationary status since his hiring in February. It is common for deputies to remain on probationary status for one year after they are hired, Rosema said.

OTTAWA COUNTY -- A part-time sheriff's deputy was fired earlier this month after state police began investigating a domestic violence complaint involving his former girlfriend.

Ottawa County Sheriff Gary Rosema today said the road patrol deputy, who started February 2, was a "probationary" employee.

Rosema did not release his name or age, but said he filled shifts when full-time employees were unavailable.He would not disclose any other details of the domestic violence complaint. Troopers with the state police in Grand Haven were investigating the July 19 incident and planned to forward a report to Ottawa County Prosecutor Ron Frantz.

Rosema said the deputy has not been charged with any crime. Probationary status for deputies typically lasts a year from their start date, he said."We just decided at this point in time, we weren't going to move forward with his employment," Rosema said

Ottawa County Sheriff Department....as in the same Ottawa County Sheriff Department that investigated [?] the OIDV murder of Lori DeKleine by Holland PD Officer Ken DeKleine[ http://michiganoidv.blogspot.com/2008/01/officer-ken-dekleine-holland-police.html ].

So why would the Ottawa County SD want to protect the identity of one of their own law enforcement officers who they fired for OIDV?
