Judge Christopher Boyd bound Bluew over for premeditated first-degree murder; assault against a pregnant individual; and intentionally causing miscarriage or stillbirth of a fetus or embryo.

Jennifer Webb was murdered August 30, 2011. Officer Kenneth Bluew was in a relationship with Jennifer and was the father of her unborn child. Bluew was charged with Jennifer's murder in September. The preliminary hearing, in which Bluew was bound over for trial, was held October 20-21, 2011.

Andrea King, one of Jennifer's best friends, testified at the preliminary hearing.

King testified that on the night of August 30th, Jennifer Webb was visiting with her. Jennifer left King's house to meet with Officer Bluew.

Judge Christopher Boyd

Officer Tim Patterson [Buena Vista PD] testified that after 10:00pm on August 30th, a number of attempts were made to contact Officer Kenneth Bluew [who was also on duty].

Officer Patterson testified that when he received no radio response from Officer Bluew, that he went looking for him on Outer Drive [by the gun ranage].

Officer Patterson testified that when he made contact with Officer Bluew at the gun range, that Officer Bluew asked him how he wanted to handle it. Officer Patterson thought that Bluew was referring to reporting the Aztec vehicle as a suspicious vehicle.

Upon closer inspection of the Aztec, Officer Patterson noticed a dead woman [Jennifer Webb] with a cord around her neck. The other end of the cord was wrapped around the Aztec roof carrier, and Webb's body was partially in the deep ditch.

Officer Patterson testified that Officer Bluew found an apparent suicide note inside the Aztec, and that Bluew also took photos of the scene.

Officer Patterson called the incident in as a suicide.

Things at the scene began to appear to be suspicious to Officer Patterson when he found Jennifer Webb's cell phone in her vehicle...

On Jennifer's cell phone, Officer Patterson testified that he found: "Ken Cop Boo". "In my mind it went to: Ken's a cop and she was talking to him".

At that point, the investigation took took a different direction: from an apparent suicide to a homicide.
