OWOSSO — Investigating officers were unable to determine a definitive cause of injuries suffered by the girlfriend of an Owosso police officer who was arrested on a domestic violence charge, according to documents obtained by The Argus-Press under a Freedom of Information Act request.

Shiawassee County sheriff’s deputies and Owosso police officers were called to a home in Owosso Township shared by the couple on Oct. 22 after the woman, a Mason police officer, called 911.

OWOSSO — The Shiawassee County Prosecutor’s office will not issue a warrant against an Owosso police officer who was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence.

The officer’s name was not released since he was not formally charged.

Director of Public Safety Mike Compeau said he was informed the officer was arrested for domestic violence, but formal charges are still pending.

ISHPEMING -- The former Ishpeming police officer charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence was sentenced Tuesday at Marquette County District Court in Ishpeming.

Ron Schultz, 37, plead guilty to the charge. The victim came forward in August.

After a full investigation by the Michigan State Police, Schultz was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.

Tuesday, he was fined over $600 and will see no jail time unless he fails to pay the fines in a timely manner.

If the fines are not paid by October 15, Schultz will have to report to jail. He will have to spend one day for each $50 he owes.

According to officials, the incident occurred with a family member at the officer's home between 2005 and 2006.

Schultz resigned from the Ishpeming Police Department on Sunday.

MARQUETTE, MI (wnmu) - An Ishpeming Police officer who resigned on Sunday has been sentenced for domestic violence.

Ron Schultz, 37, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor, which officials say happened at his home between 2005 and 2006. The family member came forward with the allegation in August.

The sentence requires Schultz to pay more than $600 in fines. He will not have to serve jail time unless he doesn't pay the fines by October 15.

Deputy Calhoun's plea bargain: 1 count of third degree criminal sexual conduct [7-15 years in prison], and 1 count of felony firearms [2 years in prison]. The 9 remaining felony charges against Calhoun were dropped.

Deputy Roderick is looking at the possibility of life behind bars.








The Judge ordered Deputy Calhoun held without bail, in the Oakland County jail. Calhoun was charged with 11 felonies: 4 counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct; 4 counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct; assault with intent to do great bodily harm; felonious assault; and felony firearm.



LIVONIA, Mich. - 42-year-old Roderick Calhoun has 14 years of service as a deputy in the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. However, he could face the rest of his life behind bars.

Calhoun faces eleven separate felony counts for sexual assault, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and weapons charges. He is accused of forcing a 24-year-old woman to perform sex acts on him at a home where they both reside Tuesday morning.

Livonia Police say the woman is a relative. Calhoun is accused of beating her with a belt and choking her while forcing the sex acts.

The lead detective in the case told the judge Calhoun allegedly threatened his victim with a gun, telling her he would kill family members one by one, the order in which he would kill them and then take his own life.

Calhoun works in Juvenile Services in the sheriff’s department. He has no criminal record, and is an officer in the military reserve. He’s been suspended from the sheriff’s department without pay.

Police say they have considerable physical evidence and corroboration in the case against Calhoun.

The judge ordered him held without bond at the Oakland County Jail.

LIVONIA, Mich. (AP) — A 42-year-old Wayne County sheriff's deputy has been charged in the beating and sexual assault of a woman.

County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says Roderick Calhoun was arraigned Friday on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, felonious assault and other charges.

Worthy says the victim was forced at gunpoint to perform multiple sex acts, beaten with a belt and choked.

Calhoun is suspended by the sheriff's department and was being held without bond pending a Sept. 28 preliminary examination.

The Associated Press left a message Friday seeking comment from Douglas Gutscher, Calhoun's attorney.

It's been a tough news cycle for the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, where reports indicate two deputies face accusations in separate off-duty incidents involving guns, women and poor judgment.

First up, Channel 7 reports deputy Roderick Vincent Calhoun has been suspended and faces criminal charges after he allegedly assaulted a female relative at gunpoint.

WXYZ.com, Sept. 17: Police say Calhoun assaulted a 24-year-old female relative who lives in the same Livonia house that he does. Investigators say he forced the woman to perform multiple sex acts at gunpoint. He is also accused of beating the woman with a belt and then choking her.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says "These are very serious charges and we will treat the prosecution of Roderick Calhoun just as we would any other defendant."

Calhoun is being held without bond on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault and felony firearms possession.

Meanwhile, Fox 2 reports deputy Anthony Binion has been asked to turn in his gun after he allegedly pulled it outside a local bar on ladies' night. According to a police report filed last week, a man says Binion was making out with his wife and threatened to kill him when confronted.

Binion denies the husband's account and continues to work at the county jail as authorities investigate.

Roderick Vincent Calhoun has been charged with four counts of 1st degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, four counts of 3rd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault and Felony Firearms. Investigators say during the commission of the crimes, he threatened to kill his family.

Police say Calhoun assaulted a 24-year-old female relative who lives in the same Livonia house that he does. Investigators say he forced the woman to perform multiple sex acts at gunpoint. He is also accused of beating the woman with a belt and then choking her.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says "These are very serious charges and we will treat the prosecution of Roderick Calhoun just as we would any other defendant."
His defense attorney did not comment after today's arraignment.

Calhoun is being held without bond. He has already been suspended from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department where he has worked for 14 years.

"These are very serious charges, and we will treat the prosecution of Roderick Calhoun just as we would any other defendant," prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

Calhoun has been suspended from his job at Wayne County Sheriff's Office. He faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, if he is found guilty.

Roderick Vincent Calhoun, a 14 year veteran of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, has already lost his job and may lose his freedom, potentially for life. He was arraigned earlier today on sexual and physical assault charges stemming from the serial rapes of a 24 year old relative.

Police say Calhoun forced the woman, who had lived in his Livonia home, to perform sexual acts at gunpoint. He reportedly beat the woman with a belt and choked her. He threatened to kill other family members if she failed to cooperate.
The Wayne sheriff's office has suspended Calhoun.

The former deputy was arraigned in Livonia's 16th district court on a number of very serious felony charges. They are: four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the first degree (CSC-1), four counts of CSC-3, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, and felony firearm. Conviction of CSC-1 exposes a defendant to a maximum of life in prison.

The name of the victim is being withheld due to the nature of the charges. Beyond saying the victim is a relative of Calhoun, the nature of the blood relationship has not been specified.
